So
you want to know more about Concho......
The
village of Concho, Arizona is located in Apache County at the northern
edge of the White Mountains recreational area of eastern Arizona. Concho is one of the best kept secrets of the
White Mountains.
Because Concho is “off the beaten path”, the
village has been able to keep its small town feel while the residents
are still close enough to enjoy all of the amenities of the larger towns.
The tourist attractions and business districts of Show Low, Lakeside
and Pinetop are just a pleasant 30 minute drive away.

Located on Highway 61 in Apache County, the village of Concho was originally settled in the 1800s by New Mexican sheepherders of Basque descent. In the early part of the 1900s, Mormon pioneer families came to settle in the Concho Springs area and the two diverse cultures blended into a unique community.
Concho Lake is a seasonal 80 acre spring-fed reservoir with camping facilities and is stocked annually with rainbow trout. Hon-Dah Casino, Sunrise Ski Resort, hiking trails and many archeological sites are within an easy 40 minute to 2 hour drive from town. The Petrified Forest is 40 minutes away and the Grand Canyon is just a little over 3 hours away.
Concho
enjoys mild four seasons at an altitude of 6200’.
Active retirees and those planning to retire are starting to
discover Concho. The area offers great weather, a rural lifestyle,
affordable property, and access to a wide range of recreational opportunities.
Sports enthusiasts appreciate the close proximity to world-class
fishing and hunting available on state, federal and Indian reservation
land. Due to the large number
of sunny days, good soil and a naturally clean water source, the ranches
around Concho are attracting families looking for an eco-conscious lifestyle.
During the 1970’s and 1980’s, a wide range of home sites were developed in town. There are ¼ to ½ acre lots for mobile homes, ¼ acre to 1 acre lots for site-built homes and 5 to 20 acre lots with horse privileges. A large portion of these lots offer views of Concho Lake, the golf course (temporarily closed), and/or mountains. Surrounding Concho are mini-homestead style ranches of 10, 20, and 40 acres plus large family-owned commercial ranches. See the Lifestyles page for more information.
